What is the Retainers for Life Protection Plan?

Retainers for Life is a comprehensive plan that has partnered with Wood Orthodontics in Weatherford, Texas, that provides patients with a more affordable option for retainer replacements.  Through this partner program, patients receive custom replacement retainers, delivered to their home, ensuring ongoing maintenance of their beautiful smiles.

Why Wear a Retainer After Orthodontic Treatment?

After undergoing orthodontic treatment, wearing a retainer is crucial to prevent the teeth from shifting back to their original positions.  The prescribed retainer will help maintain the results achieved during treatment and protect your investment.

What Causes Teeth to Shift?

Teeth can shift over time due to various factors, including natural growth and aging, changes in the jawbone structure, and habitual behaviors such as teeth grinding or tongue thrusting. However, without proper retention, the teeth may gradually revert to their pre-treatment positions, compromising the results of orthodontic treatment.

How to Care for Your Retainer

Caring for your retainer is essential to ensure its effectiveness and longevity. Here are some tips for proper retainer maintenance:

  1. Cleanliness: Regularly clean your retainer using a soft toothbrush. Retainer or denture cleaner can be used in your cleaning routine as well. Avoid using hot water, as it can distort the retainer’s shape.
  2. Storage: When not in use, store your retainer in its case to protect it from damage or loss. Moreover, please keep it away from pets and small children who may mistake it for a toy.
  3. Avoiding Damage: Refrain from exposing your retainer to excessive heat or pressure, which can cause warping or breakage. Additionally, eating or drinking anything except water while wearing your retainer to prevent damage.
